The first aspect of the game strategy concerns how much you are willing to spend per game/session and how many games/sessions you would like to play at once. It is called your bankroll management. For example, if you want to bet $2 per game or session, playing 1-2 games at once, you can't afford to wait for very long if you are losing several games in a row.
On the flip side, if you are paying $10 per game or session, with one match per day or less, it wouldn't be wise to check your results every 5 minutes (unless your pot is rising fast).
If you want to use a strategy that involves long shots, such as the Martingale system, it is wise to play with a small bankroll. Even if you lose several games in a row, you can keep playing and try your chances again and again until fortune favors you and gives back what was lost.
